Securing Your Data and Identity
B2C Community IT Recyclers uses a multi-step data erasure process to remove all traces of ownership from your e-waste or redundant IT equipment. We ensure your organisation or personal data remains secure.
Whether you are an individual seeking to dispose responsibly of your home or office PC, a business with significant IT equipment, or large government or corporate institution seeking to manage redundant IT equipment, we focus firstly on data security and erasure. We protect your data through either hard disk destruction or data erasure techniques that are ‘world class’, certified and recognised for their effectiveness.
Certificate of Recycling and Data Destruction
We offer a General Certificate of Recycling and Data Destruction upon request for any collections we have undertaken. This certificate covers the basic number and type of items collected. A more detailed certificate outlining serial no’s asset tags or any other details can be available upon request and may require some costs. ( see below)
SECURE DATA ERASURE
If the integrity of the HDD is sound it will be wiped using one of two processes.
Darik’s Boot and Nuke (“DBAN”) – $$FREE
It is a B2C policy standard that all hard drives that come into the warehouse are wiped with DBAN unless a Blancco wipe has been purchased. We can provide a general Certificate of Data Destruction and Disposal for Recycling for this service
Blancco Secure Erasure – $P.O.A
Blancco guarantees 100% data sanitization of all your IT assets, once erased, the data cannot be recovered with any existing technology.
The Blancco technology has more than ten national and international third party approvals, certifications and recommendations – the most in the industry. It is Certified for Common Criteria (ISO 15408) as an internationally recognised independent security certification by governments in 26 countries across Europe, Australasia, Asia and North America. Blancco is used extensively in Australia for and by Federal and State Government Departments, Banks and large auction rooms. See www.blancco.com for more information.
Blancco has a variety of data erasure options. We generally recommend either of the following 3 pass wipes:
- US Department of Defense Sanitizing (DOD 5220.22-M, DOD 5220.22-M ECE)
- HMG Infosec Standard No: 5 (higher) [Certified versions: 4.10 HMG 4.8 HMG and 3.7r1]
B2C issue a Blancco report showing each HDD and its relevant machine information, for each machine wiped.
HARD DISK RECYCLING
All Hard Disk Drives (HDD) are tested for integrity. If a disk proves to be faulty before, during or after data erasure, it is destroyed and rendered useless. The disk is then disposed of through approved and environmental waste services. If your e-waste includes a HDD that must be destroyed, please discuss this when you contact us to manage your collection.
Hard Disk Destruction
Destruction of hard drives is permanent and done through our eWaste recycling provider
E-Waste Recycling – AS/NZS 5377 IS0 14001
B2C use the services of an ISO & AS/NZS endorsed company for the recycling of our e-waste. We can therefore ensure you any of the e-waste resulting from the equipment you donate will be recycled in a secure ethical, environmentally and cost effective way.
